Fred the Monkey was Ralph Zinobop‘s last foray into augmenting lab animals for other purposes. After all the problems Ralph had trying to evolve hamsters, Ralph opted to use an animal who had a shorter evolutionary journey: a monkey.

Fred’s basic duty was to keep Sammy on his wheel so that the Steel Duck had enough power to fly through space.

Fred accidentally jettisoned himself in an emergency escape pod, sending him back to Ralph’s asteroid, where he and the rest of Ralph’s original crew were originally created. He now lives there with all the versions of Flatworm Jim, caring for over 6 million hamsters (and counting).
