I wouldn’t call that “ruining it”… I’d call it making it more awesome. Maybe if you’d done some scenes from the prequels… Goofy as JarJar? Pinocchio as Anakin? Scrooge McDuck as Watto?
Don’t get me wrong — I’m pretty excited about the idea of Disney taking on Star Wars — especially if they get the writing staff of PIXAR involved and can get Mark Hamill and some of the original cast back (I’m pretty sure Harrison Ford won’t do it — he’s said as much). Also I loved what they did with the Muppets recently, so if they do as well with Star Wars, I’ll be thrilled. But — me liking it isn’t nearly as funny, and this comic more or less came together in tis form as soon as I heard the news.
Actually, Disney is pretty good about allowing their secondary studios to make good movies. Look at the recent Marvel movies, just for one example.
That said, the very idea of Episode 7 just seems…bad.
I figured Yoda would be played by Grover…
Disney already owns Kermit. Grover’s owned by CTW (now called Sesame Workshop)
Of course, it’s only a matter of time now until there’s a comic book crossover with Darth Vader vs. Wolverine. *Sigh.*
(Though I confess I would read Darth Vader vs. Doctor Doom…)
And David Willis (or at least his characters) claims there would be nothing fun out of this latest company-merging…
… you just showed how they were wrong!
“Disney already owns Kermit. Grover’s owned by CTW…” That’s as may be, but I think Grover’d be the more obvious matchup given Frank Oz voices both that most awesome of Muppets, and the pseudo-profound little green hack of a Jedi master.
Just read through the entire MelonPool archive.
Keep up the good work, yet another comic to add to the list of “souvernirs for birthday/christmas”.
